COUNTY COUNCIL.
CR. HATHAWAY RE-ELECTED.
At noon to-day a special meeting of the Stratford County Council was held for the purpose of electing a chairman for the ensuing term. Ct. Christoffel nominated Cr. Hathaway. Cr. Hathaway, he said, had occupied the chair for the past three years very capably, and it took a few years to enable a man to grasp the affairs of the Council. Cr. Smith seconded. He said Cr. Hathaway had had over twenty years experience in local body work. When previously elected he had promised tn be impartial to all ratepayers, and tne speaker thought he had actually done so.
Cr. Boskin nominated Cr. Walter, bub Ci\ Walter declined nomination, saying he was quite prepared to work under Cr. Hathaway.
Cr. Bask-in said choosing a chairman was a serious matter. It was a pleasure to sit under a good chairman and very unsatisfactory to sit under a bad one. In view of Cr. Walter's resignation from the Council he thought he would have accepted nomination for the post of chairman. There being no further nominations, Cr. Hathaway was declared elected. In returning thanks for his election, Cr. Hathaway thanked members for their renewal of confidence. As in the past he would endeavor to be impartial to all ratepayers.
