(Notes by Cicero.) The Takapuna Spring Meeting opens on ■Wednesday and concludes on Saturday, whilst Feilding open their meeting on Saturday and finish on Monday, Ineuru was left in Auckland in charge of J. Chaffe, who will supervise the training of the brown mare until after Takapuna at least. The Stratford-owned trotter Virago looked all over a winner of the pnncipal event at Marlborough, but unforfortunately a foot became displaced at a. critical stage, hence his defeat. The well-known crack horseman, Hector Gray, is at present on a visit to this district. He intends returning to Australia in a month or so. Sir Moseley returned from lliccarton lame, the hard nature of the track being responsible. Previous to leaving for the South, the bay horse electrifiedthe touts by reeling off four furlongs in -17isec . As he was not sighted in any of the races in which he competed it looks as if those who say he is a jade are right. At,the conclusion of the Blenheim meeting R. Barlow returned Gerberga to the Highden stables. Probably, it is stated, the Charlemagne II filly will go to the stud. Just to show what a limited knowledge of the rules of racing members of some clubs possess, and how careless owners are in the same respect, | I cite a case. At the Feilding meeting here appears on the programme a race -ailed the Oroua Stakes, of £250, dis;ance six furlongs, for two-year-olds md upwards. Among 'the horses nominated appear the names of quite a lumber of two-year-olds, including Sir 3r. Clifford’s pair, Holiday and Adjutant. Now, as a matter of fact, according to the rules of the Conference, of which Sir G. Clifford is President, no two-year-old can be raced over a six furlong course until December.
