At the Supreme Court, John Alexander McJvihnon, on three charges of theft in the Customs frauds for which several men have been convicted, was acquitted after the jury had retired for an hour. The Crown Prosecutor asked to be permitted to consider his position in connection with the second indictment against the prisoner, who was meantime released on bail. Andrew Costello was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for the theft of £1922, land revenue. It was stated that the total defalcations was £12,679, and that the system of fraud had extended over eight years.
