PERSONAL.
The interment took place to-day at Pihama cemetery of another of our old identities, MrC. F. Fischer, farmer, j Pihama, who died at the Hawera hospital on Monday, after a short illness, due to an accident. The Opunake Times states that deceased was returning home from Opunake in his trap a few j days ago, and when leading the horse and trap from the gate to the homestead by some mischance he ricked his shoulder, which affected him internally. Deceased has been farming on the Waitino road (Pihama) for many years and passed through all the vicissitudes of the early pioneering days. Prior to settling down to the farming life deceased took his full share of responsibility in the troublous- times with the natives, serving several years in the defence force. Deceased, who passed away at the ripe age of 76 years, was a very active man right up to the time of his death. His wife pre-deceased him some years ago. Deceased leaves a grown-up family of three sons—Louis, Henry and Arthur; and six married daughters, Mvs Baxter (Pahiatua), Mrs W. Coxhead (Thames), Mrs Hoimes (Pihama), Mrs Porteous (Te Kiri), Mrs O'Hanlon (Ihaia Road), and Mrs Cameron (Whangarei).
