A “STIR UP” REQUIRED. There were the usual number present at the Defence,Rifle Club’s parade last night, and, unfortunately, the usual men : the number parading each week seems to have reached a minimum, and those on parade are more rft'en than not the same men who paraded the previous, week. Last

■ night’s drill was of a strenuous nature, but it was clearly indicated that the men can do with'a good deal more training; and those who are absenting themselves from drill under the impression that they are efficient will no ■doubt find that they are suffering from r painful delusion. Before parade the patter of the coming concert was hijjfefly discussed. The whole question wa|'fnlly gone into and several suggestioi%hvere made ; rnd at next Monday’s drill n final derision will he arrived at. The concert is so far forward, that a good programme is confidently promised, including military drill items which have been in active preparation for some time. The proceeds of,the concert are to be devoted to the British and Belgian Relief Fund, and this should induce members to attend next Monday’s d ill ’ so that they can eqsure the bset p rssible arrangements Piping made foj the concert. ■ .// ...

Arrangements are to he made for an afternoon parade, the general idea at present being to march out to some 1 i rge paddock and there indulge iii field operations. If this idea is properly developed members should be able to receive instruction while spending a pleasant afternoon’s outing. The Club needs a . little “stir up,” which would bo very well administered by a big muster of those who usually place themselves on the “dead, wounded and missing” list on parade nights.
