The Nen Frei Presse, of Vienna, states that General Dimitrieff commands the Russian army against the Turks.
ANOTHER REASON WHY THE DARDANELLES WAS CLOSED. Tiubii and Sydney Sun Skbviom. (Received 8.0 a.in.) London, November 16. Turkey states that she closed the Dardanelles because England announced that unless German officers were removed from Turkish warships the act would be regarded as hostile and she would be liable to attack. The Admiralty announces successful operations against tb<* Turks under Shiek Said at Cape Babel Mandeb, at the entrance to the Red Sea. Three battalions of Indian troops landed under cover of fire from the Duke of Edinburgh, which disabled the Turba fort. T.nfantpy attacked tho enemy’s position, and occupied the hills commanding Manheli. The opposition weakened. Two hundred of the ienemy escaped. We occupied the forts; A large amount of ammunition and -six field guns were captured. Our casualties were four men killed, one officer and fifteen men wounded.
