The final election returns in West Australia show : Ministerial supporters 2(3, and Opposition 24.
Through a swing breaking at a school picnic at Ngatira (reports a P A. wire from Rotorua) a girl named Watkins, aged six, received fatal injuries.
In addition to the engagements previously announced, Mr J. B. Hine will speak at York Road and Midhirst on the 18th, and Hnirangi and Kaimata on the 19th November;
The Rotorua Chamber of Commerce passed a resolution deprecating the circulation of misleading and inaccurate reports of local earth tremors fjuch as were recently published in the newspapers.—P.A. ,
A Melbourne cablegram states that a tragedy occurred at St. Kilda. William White shot and dangerously wounded Agues Stephens and then committed suicide. The affair was the outcome of their engagement being broken off.
A Press Association telegram this afternoon from Grey mouth states: B. Wishaw, second mate of the Rosamond, is missing. The captain reports that Wishaw was all right at 3.30 yesterday morning while off Kahurangi Point, but half an hour later he was not to be found. The ship was labouring heavily at the time.
