WILLIAM THE SHAMELESS.

Referring to tho cablegram published yesterday in which it was stated that the Kaiser’s speeches no longer ii elude mention of God, but only of Frederick the Great, the Dominion says the cause of the change is not announced, but perhaps it is partly explained by another message which states thaj, the Turkish Moslems are now being taught to shout “Long live Hadj Mohammed Wilhelm.” For some time past secret emissaries have been endeavoring to persugde the Moslem world that Germany is its true friend and protector, and that the Kaiser Is a Mohammedan at heart. It may be that he thinks that his free and familiar references to the

“good old Gorman God” will give offence to his Turkish friends, and he has therefore determined to give exclusive patronage to Frederick the Great, .an avowed atheist who made open ridicule of religion. In one ol the Oxford war pamphlets which have just come to hand, Mr C. R. L. Fletcher tells us that Frederick

“shamelessly set himself to grab the property of his weaker neighbors.” it is, probably, for this reason that the present Kaiser regards Frederick the Great as a man after his own heart. Frederick was the monarch who stole Silesia from and it was he who “suggested the famous crime of the first partition of Poland, which is at the root of much of the Eastern troubles of Germany to-day.” It will be remembered that the Tsar, has promised to make Poland a nation once more after the tyranny of the German mailed fist has been overthrown.
