CAPTURE OF MANY PRISONERS AND GUNS.

(Received 9.15 a.m.) Petrograd, November 5.

Official; A complete change is noticeable in the East Prussian frontier. The enemy has begun to retreat at certain points, markedly on the left Wing.. Many were taken prisoners. The Germans continue their hasty retreat to the Vistula frontier, tl>6 rearguard having been driven out of Volo Przborz.

Our troops occupied Kielce on the 2nd, capturing 600 Austrians, who Were hurriedly retreating along the whole line. We occupied Sandomirz and captured 200 officers, 16,000 men, several dozen guns, and machine guns.

General Joffre has telegraphed to Czar Nicholas congratulating him on the triumphant march of the Russian Army. During the last fortnight ;a fresh advance brought them close to the German frontier. He adds: “We on our side, by ’ energetic, insistent action, are seeking to destroy the enemy. Our situation is good.”
