FEDERAL CONFERENCE.

Melbourne, November 5
The conference of Federal State Ministers is unfinished. The discussion on the financial position disclosed that several of the States were hard pressed for money as the result of the war and other factors, their various requirements totalling about twenty millions.
Mr Fisher announced that the Imperial Government was prepared to secure money through a loan redeemable at a convenient period.
The conference decided that Mr Fisher should consult the Imperial authorities, so as to ascertain the amount available.
The conference also discussed the locking of the River Murray, and unifying the railway gauge. The Federal Government is prepared to find a million towards* the Murray scheme.
LABOR FEDERATION IN COURT.
Sydney, November 4
In the Arbitration Court, Mr Justice Heydon delivered judgment in the ease calling on the Northern District Colliery Employees’ Federation to show cause why it should not be penalised for aiding a strike at certain in connection with the afternoon shift trouble. He adjudged the Federation guilty of aiding the strike, and paying srike pay.
