AT AUCKLAND TO-DAY.

[Per Press Association.] Auckland, November 4.' The Auckland Racing Club’s spring meeting commenced to-day in line weather. The course was in fast going order. Results:—

Maiden Hurdles, of 130sovs., miles.—Tragedy King 1, Spalfish 2, Dogger Bank 3. Scratched: Glenaltyn and Advance. Tragedy King took charge crossing the top, and outpacing Spalfish, won by three,and three-quar-, ters bf a length. Time, 2rnin 53sec.

Great Northern Guineas, of 1000 so vs-, Due mile.—-Mullingar 1, Castalia 2, Bedford 3. All started. Manukau made the early rillining, but crossing the top Castalia took charge and led ihto the straight, with-Mullingar almost on terms. In the run home, the latter easily held the opposition and won by a length. There was a length between second and third. Time, Imin 41 3-ssec.

Welcome Stakes, of 650 sovs; five furlongs.—Arran 1, Analogue 2, Lady Paula 3. Scratched: Persian Prince. The whiner led all the way, and won by a length. Time, Imin 3sec.

Oneliunga Steeplechase, of 300sovs., three miles.—Ruffy 1, Bercola 2; The Chief 3. Scratched; Taurangi and Makiri. Vestal fell at the first obstacle, leaving the race to Bercola and Ruffy The latter won by two lengths, The Chief ten lengths away. Time, 6rnin lOsec.

RICCARTON TRAINING.

Christchurch, November 4

The work at Riccarton was uninteresting. Multiply did a medium circuit, the last half mile in -51 sec; Chortle did a similar task in 50.)sec, Feramoz beat Steinhill over six furlongs in Imin 21 2-ssec; Sea Pink did the last six furlongs of a mile in 1 min 26sec; Rinalclo did teli furlongs in 2min 16 l-ssec finishing fairly well; Pavlova was better than Belasco overhalf a mile in S2sec; Parable jumped four hurdles well.
