ASSURANCES TO MOHAMMEDANS
FROM THE ALLIES.

It is officially announced throughout India that no religious question is involved in Turkey’s action., France and Russia have joined -England’s, assurance that they will not molest Mohammedan holy places in Arabia provided Indian pilgrims are not molested. The Nizam of Hyderabad has issued a stirring manifesto. He says the British cause is right and just, and it is Indian Mohammedans’ hounden duty to firmly adhere to the old and tried loyalty to Britain, which has always been Islam’s best friend.
The Aga Khan urged the Choja, Ismaels and Jumat to maintain their loyalty to Britain.
Leading Mohammedans in Calcutta deplore the Sultan’s action. They believe he was forced to yield by Enver Pasha and Germany.
The Bengal Moslem League is organising a movement to educate illiterates as to the cause of the war.
