The committee of Wanganui ladies, who desired to forward to the Belgian Consul a considerable quantity of clothing for the benefit of the Belgian poor, expected it would he carried fre* on the railways, as in the case of sup;plies for the expeditionary force. The Railway Department has notified them that the general manager’s instructions are that all Roods for Belgium arc te bo charged for at ordinary rates. Grfeafc indignation is expressed locally at whab is considered a moan discrimination against Britain’s ally. .

Lieut. H. J. Walker, whose parehfcjl reside in Auckland, was reported missing at' the War Office on September 9th. His parents to-day . received ** telegram from their son reporting himself safe and well.
