Gold Lace may repeat her Avondale performance ■in die Welcome Stakes, in which -.event she must come in for solid support. The largo field of fifteen remain in the Or.ehunga Steeplechase. Bercola, although loaded with 12.3, must be hard to beat. The Chief and Tauraugi should be best backed of other stan:eTs:- if Grattaii strips as well as at Wanganui, the Shorts would be as good as over; if not at his best, Waiorewa should command respect. The City Handicap bears an open ap-jctr-<mee. Gold Size, Ratana and Uoyal Irish all have a fighting chance. A very large field accepted for the Hobson Handicap. Ruse de Gusrre and Soultane are nicely handicapped. Of the fifteen acceptors for the Flying, Inueru and Goldfire should run well forward.
