The Russians, without waiting for their artillery, reached ters, and hell was let loose, men stabbing, slashing, and clubbing.with rifles, and even tearing at each other with their teeth. A gigantic Russian captain dealt on every hand, and a regimental chaplain, carrying a cross, and ignoring the bursting shells, blessed file soldiers as they rushed into the battle. The Germans came in > r ensc masses, and the Russian artillery, which by this time had arrived, mowed down the enemy. Then the infantry made another tremendous onslaught, and dislodged the Germans.”
