WAR DEMONSTRATIONS IN THE CENTRES. United Peess Association. Rome, October 25. The police are making strenuous efforts to stop demonstrations at Milan, Venice, and, Brescia in favor of war against Austria. Several arrests have been made at Venice. The Czar, in offering to liberate Italian prisoners of war, has asked Italy to undertake that they will not be returned to the Austria-Hungarian army during the war. M. Salanora, In thanking the Czar, pointed out that Italy was unable to retain the men, who were not subject to Italian law. A committee would investigate the legal questions involved, particularly in connection with neutrality.
