TROTTING OWNERS AND AUTHORITIES AT LOGGERHEADS. [Pmr Pre«* ABBOOIATION.] Auckland, October 2. There has been an agitation, which originated in Christchurch from tl.c New Zealand Owners', Trainers' and Breeders,' Association, to secure a new system of handicapping, und.-r |which no trotting horse should be handicapped at lower than its oest winning gait (states the Press Association). The Auckland Trotting Club considers this would ruin trieting and declines to accept it. Yesterday the Auckland branch of the Owners' Association sent a mandatory letter to the Auckland Club demanding an answer before eight o'clock, whether the Auckland Club would introduce .the new system of handicapping. The Club held a special meeting, and deckled to refuse. The owners and breeders thereupon resolved to boycott the Auckland Club's spring meeting, which takes place a fortnight hence, , and for which entries close to-night. The Association further issued instructions to its members to refrain from nominating horses.
