CAUSE OF THE WAR BRITISH THEOLOGIANS REPLY TO THE GERMAN APPEAL. Ujoteu Press '-Association*. (ReceiVecl 9.5 a.m.) London, September 30. Pleading theologians in all the Protestant denominations have issued a reply to the German • appeal to Evangelical Christians, especially members of the world’s missionary tonfereuce at Edinburgh, reciting the German view of the political causes of the war. The reply emphasised the salient points of the diplomatic negotiations, and expressed amazement that the document which was signed by German theologians whose honesty and good faith were unimpeachable, should deviate fi’om the plain facts. It was only to be supposed they wore unaware of the'story of the negotiations. The reply denied the allegations that Gormans abroad were ill-treated.
