THE GENERAL ELECTIONS.
MR D. J. HUGHES SELECTED FOR TARANAKI SEAT. At a representative meeting of the Liberal and Labor Federation, held ‘>t the New Plymouth Town Hall last night (states the News), Mr D. J. Hughes, of New Plymouth/and late of Manaia, was unanimously selected'as the Liberal candidate for the Tara' uaki electorate. Mr Hughes is well known in Taranaki, being a member of the New Plymouth Harbor Board, a director of the Kaupokonui Dairy Con pany, an erstwhile Taranaki representative footballer, and what may be termed an all-round man.
