NEWTON KING'S HAYMARKET REPORT.

For my Haymarket sale on Satufclay last, I had a full yarding of pigs, which wero offered before a large attendance of buyers. There was a fair enquiry for weaners, large- sorts selling at prices a little easiei than my last sale, all with the exception of 3 pens being sold under the hammer. I quote slips and weaners from lis to £1 9s (the latter price was for a line pf well-grown 8-weeks old weaners) small store £1 9s 6d to £1 12s 6d, calves from 2s 61 to 14s, milk carts £8 10s, milkcart horse £lB ss, quantity timber and sundries at usual rates. I will be offering at my next sale about 4000 feet of building timber.

Newton King's first salo of hides, skins, etc., since the outbreak of war was held yesterday. There was a good attendance of buyers, and the prices realised for skins and hidis must be considered very satisfactory. Sheepskins showing fair length of wool, have declined lid to 2d per ib, since the last sale, but were eagerly competed for at these prices. Yearlings wero lower at from fd to Id per 11). Sound farmers hides sold exceptionally well and showed practically no decline. Butcher hides were easier at from Jd to ;|d per lb. Calfskins as predicted, sold at very high values, a few of the prices being 5 pounders 9Jd, lljd, Is to Is 3d pei lb for specials, equal to 3s lOd to Gs 3d per skin; six pounders, lid, llijd to Is 3d for specials equal to 4. 7d to Gs 3d per skin; 4 pounders, 9|d, lid, ll*d to Is id per lb equal to 3s 2d to 4s 4d each. Both hides and calfskins met with, exceptionally keen competition. Bale wool and casks of tallow were practically unsaleable, no lines heing cleared under the bamrner.
