N.Z. FARMERS’ UNION.

The ordinary meeting of the Taranaki Executive New Zealand Farmers’ Union Was held at Hawera on Thursday, when there were present:—Messrs 11. Dunn, vice-president (chair), E. Maxwell, 11. Lambic, H. H. Buxton, J. Davidson, W. Pennington, A. E. Washer, F. Mills, J. Swiudlehurst, G. Capper and B. Booker. WAR FUNDS, Mr Lambie reported that the Opunako branch had decided that a portion of the funds should be earmarked for the purpose of relieving cases of distress of relatives of those who had gone to the war and those who were rendered inacapable t° earn a living. Mr Capper said that in his district there was a very strong feeling that part of the funds raised should go to the Beligan Fund. Several members expressed the opinion that the Belgian Fund should be assisted.

Mr Lambie moved that as this Dominion is in urgent need of domestic and farm helps, this Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union request the Dominion Advisory Committee of the Union to impress upon the Government the advisability of giving assistance to come to the Dominion women of a suitable class who have suffered from the war, from Great Britain, Belgium and France. Mr Dunn seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously.
