APPRECIATIVE REFERENCES TO BRITAIN’S ACTION. CONSULS OF THE ALLIES AT SYDNEY FUNCTION. (Received 11.0 a.m.) Sydney, September 18. At B the Allies’ luncheon at the Million Club, the Consuls of France, Russia, Belgium, and Japan were present, and spoke appreciatively of England’s action and need for countering German pretensions. . , The French Consul declared that the struggle was inevitable, and was caused, not only by theCambition of, the pan'biit by Gerniany’s economic situation. The Russian Consul said that Aussia did not want war. The only reason she entered the struggle was the blood ties of fifty million Slavs, whose sympathies were with Serv-ia. The Japanese Consul pledged Japan to faithfully and honorably fulfil her treaty obligation. Japan had not much to do at present, but she would do her share.
