THE MAYOR AND THE BAND.
[To The Editoe Stralforo Post.}
Sir,—la last night’s issue of your esteemed paper I read with pleasure a letter signed “Patriotic” dealing with a letter signed hy G. Ford (secretary of the Band), to, the Council with respect to the Band’s subsidy and the Mayor’s attitude towards the Band. I consider, Mr Editor, that His Worship the Mayor had acted wisely over matters in connection with the Band, ’and-deserves every praise, and until the Band has fulfilled their agreement with respect to t)ieir number of concerts to be given, the Council will act wisely if_ they hold the subsidy until the requisite number (or over) have been given. The Band, I consider have not acted as they should have done. It was no doubt a correct thing to apply for the subsidy, but for the secretary to use the inIting remark as he did was utterly uncalled for, I trust he wi\l Jjave the good sense to apologise without ■ delay. Thanking you, Mr Editor, for trespassing on your valuable space. I am, etc., ' “ANOTHER PATRIOT.”
