A wounded officer' from the fight south of Zamosti describes the attack on 15,000 Austrian's, who wore mostly in a deeply-wooded gorge. The Russians shelled the gorge, their shrapnel bursting with marvellous accuracy. Then the infantry stormed the position. Though badly cut up by the Austrians guns, another party of infantry stormed from the flank, and tie Austrians surrendered almost immediately. The gorge was filled with dead lying in heaps on the slopes. The Russians named it "The Valley of Death." The Austrian general commanding the division watched his men disarmed. But presently, when the Austrian standard was brought from the gorge, the general drew a revolver and committed suicide. INVADING GERMANY. DISPOSITION OF THE RUSSIAN FORCES. London, September 14.
