A letter from n wounded Gordon Highlandor describes the retreat at Mens, and states: “Wo were fighting by day and retiring by night until wo came to Cambrai. On Tuesday night wo were at , but T dare not mention that place and close my eyes. God! It was awful! Avalanche followed avalanche of fresh German troop*, but the boys stuck to it.”
