THE MEAT QUESTION.
[To The Ebitor Stratford Post.]
Sir, —As our name does not appear subscribed to tho advertisement of those posing ns public benefactors «n account of the war, it may bo worth while telling the following story: “A few days ago we were waited on by one of those said benefactors, and wore asked to join them in a combined attempt to run tho whole of tho butoers’ business in Stratford on strictly cash linos at the old prices. As we considered this would possibly cause hardship to some of our valued customers, we refused, and the next thing we see is the advertisement shoving a reduction in price. Had we agreed to a strictly cash business there would have been no word of reduction in price, and possibly a little later an actual rise. We may say wo have no intention whatever of joining any combination to make life harder than is necessary to our lollow-citizeus. As the public will sec by our advertisement, we shall, of course, bo only too glad to reduce our price too; although beef is really on the rise.—We are, etc. W. CANNON ANT) CO.
