Reports state that 150 German navy men have passed through Phillipopolis en route for Constantinople.

Philippopolis, the capita] Roumelia, has a population of 30,000, and is situated on an island formed by the Maritza, 86 miles N.W. of Adrinnople. Eastern Roumelia is a district of European Turkey, newly constituted by the treaty of Berlin in July, 1878. It is nominally part of Turkey, but has conferred upon it by the treaty, almost independent powers of self-control under a Governor-General. Area; 13,500 square miles, and a population of 100,000.
