The Canadian-Pacific Railway steamer Princess Victoria collided with tho United States steamer Admiral Sampson, which sank in four minutes near Seattle. The Admiral Sampson was ■ en route from Alaska, and carried fifty-six passengers and a crew .of sixty-five, of whom seventeen were drowned, including the captain. The Princess Victoria proceeded after rescuing the survivors. The thick fog due to forest fires along the coast caused the disaster. The Princess Victoria is a steamer of 1983 tons, built in 1903. EXCITING RESCUE WORK. Vancouver, August 27. Later reports show that eleven, including nine of the crew, were drowned. After the collision rescuers on the Princess Victoria, notwithstanding that the Admiral Sampson wai enveloped in flames through the bursting of an oil tank, acted so promptly that the bulk of the Admiral Sampson’s passengers were removed to safety during the few minutes that the vessels remained interlocked.
