The Liege Forts.

THEIR DEFEAT A MATTER OF TIME.

THE GERMANS' HEAVY LOSSES.

[By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] Amsterdam, August 24.

A correspondent of the Gazette de Holland visited Liege. He says the streets were full of commandeered motor cars flying at breakneck speed to all parts of the city carrying soldiers with loaded rifles.

Two forts still hold out, but German siege guns have been mounted on the other forts, which are bombarding these two, the latter being unable to answer the fire because damage would be done to the city. The Germans admit that of the three thousand men of the 53rd infantry regiment only five hundred were alive after the attack on the Liege forts.
