The Germans have retaken the village oi' Viele in tlxe Vosges, driving out the French advance guard. The French cavalry had a .successful encounter with the Germans at Florenville, twenty miles east oi Sedan.

A slow German advance is reported in the region of Longwy and Briey (near the Luxemburg-French frontier). The onomy entrenched themselves before Briey with support from Metz.
