WILL UPHOLD HER TREATY OBLIGATIONS WITH BRITAIN. NOT SEEKING TERRITORIAL EXPANSION IN THE FAR EAST. (Received 9 a.m.) New York, August 15.
The Japanese news bureau prints a statement which has been received from Tokio to the effect that Japan intends to uphold at all costs her treaty obligations with Britain, while seeking no territorial expansion in the Far East.

It is understood that tho British fleet is gradually circumscribing the action of the German Heel in the. Far East.
Germans are gathering at Yokohama preparatory to leaving Japan, expecting a declaration of war.

Hongkong, August 15
The Japanese steamer Shiko Main attempted to enter the pert, disregarding the harbor regulations. Two shots wore sent across her bows, And the vessel still persisting, a third shot was fired, seriously damaging the steamer amidships. The Government tug went to her assistance.
