THE CASTALIA CASE.
[Piiu Press 'Association.] C'hriscehurch, August 12
The New Zealand Racing Conference arbitrators appointed by the consent oi the parties in the dispute as to 'the i payment of 25soys to the breeder ol the winner of the Avondale Stakes in 1013 have decided that the woj'd "breeder" is, in the case of tne breeder of ioals, clearly confined for all stud book and racing purposes to the owner ol the dam at the time when such foal was dropped. Under the circumstances the arbitrators further decide timt there was no power for tne stewards cr committee of the club to vary, the plain meaning of the word "breeder" as s'oi used, and therefore direct that the sum allocated to the breeder of Castalifl be paid to Mr F. Hall, who, it is admitted, purchased her dam prior to the day on which Casialia was. foaled. THE C.J.G. MEETING. Sockburn, August 13.
