A cablegram received in London from Peking, states that the bandit White Wolf was killed. . • A meeting of the Acclimatisation Society will be held in Messrs C. and E. Jackson’s office at 7.30 o’clock tins evening. The Ranfurly Shield, which Taranairi is to defend against Wairarapa 'at Stratford on Thursday. is at present on view in Mr C. E. James’ window. A meeting will he held in the Midhirst Town Hall this.evening lor the purpose of arranging a concert and dance in aid of the war fund. .

The “extra” issued last night by the “Post” was issued in quick time and was widely and quickly distributed thanks to the help of the motor car of Mr A. J. Davey and the cornets cf Messrs A. Kelly and S. Bernard, who notified residents that news was to hand. In connection with the Ranfurly Shield football match on Thursday next, the usual 12.50 train from New Plymouth will stop just south of Flint Rond crossing. Stratford Showgrounds, to set down passengers. The usual 4.5 train from Hawera will depart Stratford 5.33, arriving at New Plymouth 7.28 p.m. Holiday excursion fares are announced and further particulars appear in onr advertising columns. The annual meeting of the Tariki Co-operative Dairy Co. was held on Friday last. The report stated that when all payments for the past season were made suppliers would have received 13.8 d per pound of butter-fat. For the two vacancies on the directorate there were nominated Messrs J. Hucker, J. Knowles, and D. Swanson. Messrs Swanson (44), and , Knowles (52) were duly elected. At a subsequent meeting of directors Mr Knowles was reappointed chairman.
