To obviate any recurrence of this, my directors are of the opinion that it would lie a distinct advantage to both sides if the members of each body met in conference?. Some definite decision would then in all probability b« arrived at. As you are aware, committees set up by my directors have power to act, whiie yours have only power to report. My directors are therefore decidedly of opinion that [under these circumstances it would be better'for them to meet the Stratford Borough Council as a whole to discuss the matter of their acquiring my company's interests." 1 Under date July 30th the Town Clerk replied: "Yours of the 11th inst. i to hand. lam directed to draw your j attention to the fact that you have omitted to reply to my Council's re- . psated requests for permission to in- i spect and value your plant for the ; purpose of submitting an ofTer for some. My Council has appointed an j electrical engineer and lie will arrive ! in Stratford early in August. My ! Council therefore again requests per'mission to inspect and value your | plant and desires your prompt reply. i am also directed to draw your at- I tention to the latter portion of my ! last letter and to advise you that the Council reaffirmed this at its last j ordinary meeting. j
