The N.Z. Load and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford Branch reports as follows : On Wednesday, 22nd hist., we held a clearing sale on account of Mr H. G. Freoling, Waipuku, when there was a fair attendance of the public and bidding was good. The cons, were in very good condition although a good many showed age, and sold at very full values, the. herd of sound cows averaging £8 18s Bd. The following prices were realised : —Bay mare aged £8 os, porker pigs 245, sow 80s, cows made from £/ to £ls 10s, Jersey heifers 2 years old £8 to £lO 10s, yearlings £2 16s. On Thursday, 23rd hist., we held a clearing sale on account of Messrs Coleman and Mackay, Robson Road, Stratford, who have given up their lease. The public attendance was not so large as usual owing no doubt to the big football match at Eltham. The cows had been feeding on turnips and looked somewhat slack. Competition was dull although there wer,o a good number of buyers present, no less than 10 operating. The following prices were realised; —Sows in pig £5 to £5 10s, slips pigs 13s 6d to 24s 6d, very nice gelding 5 years old £36 10s, 8-year old gelding £2O. For the cows prices ranged from £6 to £l3 los, the sound cows making an average.of £8 4-s 6d, Jersey bull £6, springing 2-year-old heifers £7, yearling heifers 30s.

Since wo last reported wo have disposed of stock privately as follows: Weanor steers 535, 555. to 565, weaner heifers 345, 38s to 455, in calf heifers £5 15s, £G to £9, 2-year steers 82s Gd to 90s, dairy cows £ll 15s, £ll, £lO 10s, £lO ss, jEIO, 9; store cows £5 ss. £5, £4 10s, and £4 ss; ewes in lam, 20s to 21s; lambs, 16s, 16s 3d to 16s sd; 3-year fillies, eligible for stud book, £35.
