During the Armidale match O’Brien, the New Zealand full-back, had his leg broken while tackling, and was taken to the hospital. At half-time the score was, New Zealand 8, New England 6. The visitors played brilliantly in the second half, and prevented the locals further scoring. The New Zealanders were tendered a civic reception in the Town Hall. BETTER NEWS. ONLY SMALL BONE BROKEN. (Received 12.50 p.m.) Sydney, July 23. Later advices states that only a small bone was broken. It is expected he will bo incapacitated for about a fortnight. Ho is returning to Sydney for treatment, and there is a possibility that he will be able to play in the Sydney matches.
