N.Z. FARMERS' UNION.
TARANAKI EXECUTIVE. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Executive of the N.Z. Farmers' .Union was held at Hawera on Thursday. Present: Messrs 11. Dunn, vicepresident (in the chair)/B! Lambie,A. E. Washer, W. Pennington, J. S. Barrow, J. Swindlehurst, B. Booker, and J. Thomson. Leave of absence was granted to all absent members. CORRESPONDENCE. The Wellington Wharf Labourers' Industrial Union of Workers forwarded a copy of a letter which they had sent to the Wellington papers for publication and which they said had published in part only. The letter, which was a very lengthy one, occupying seven cases of foolscap, typewritten, 'dealt with matters relating to the working of the wharves over whirl. there had been conferences between the Citizens' Defence €ommittee,Harbour Board, and the Wharf Laborers' Union.—Received. The Dominion Executive forwarded a copy of the proceedings of representatives of farmers' co-operative concerns recently held in Christchurch at which the following resolution was passed, viz., "That this conference of farmers' co-operative associations, fully recognising tho good work of the N.Z. Farmers' Union and that the interests of such organisation and farmers' co-operative associations are identical, expresses the hope that steps will be taken to bring about closer relationship by mutually assisting one another in their respective spheres of labour. KAPONGA BRANCH. The secretary of the branch of the Union recently formed at Kupouga forwarded a copy of the proaHedinars of the inaugural meeting, and intimated that there were 20 members. —Receive:. Th Auckland provincial executive wrote with reference to a proposed agricultural laborers' union, and asked what the position was in this province, and what steps the farmers took.in the matter of an award being applied for. Mr Dunn moved that a reply bo sent that as wo have no award in this province we cannot give the information applied for. In speaking to the motion,.Mr Dunn said that the forming of a union and the fixing of an award in the farming industry was a vory difficult matter owing, for one especial reason, to the varying prices obtained for their products. Mr Lambie seconded the motion. m iiich was carried. ORGANISATION. In reply to the Executive's inquiry as to the methods of organisation employed in Auckland and Welling ron provinces these executives wrote giving particulars. —It was resolved that the President, vice-President, Messrs Washer and Maxwell be a committee to make the necessary arrangements for organisation in Taranaki and report at next meeting (special meeting if necessary).
