A man named Rowe was burning up rubbish at the Abattoir yesterday and unknowingly he threw some explosive caps on the fire. The caps exploded and portions of metal were driven into his face, hands, and legs.- He was taken to the Hospital for treatment.
During the progress of the clearing sale of pedigree Jerseys at Mr W. V. Harkness', Tariki, 'yesterday, a very exciting incident occurred., A neighbor of Mr Harkness, named Mr A. Cowley, was leading the well-known bull "Rozelle's Sultan," when the animal suddenly turned and gdred him. There was a general scramble for safety, but Mr McGuinness, who was j.n the ring, at once went to the rescue, and secured tJie bull, Mr Cwley was removed to Stratford by Mr F. Dobson. It is understood that he is, not dangerously injured. Yesterday afternoon the lady members of Miss Hart's Committee held a very successful meeting at Otago Chambers, and arranged the details for a dance to be held next Friday night in- the Foresters' Hall, in honor of Miss Hart, the'Horticultural Society's candidate (Green and Gold).
