NOTES FROM TOKO.

THE DOMAIN BOARD. [from our own correspondent.] Owing to the term of office of the Toko Domain Board having expired, 1 a public meeting was held in the Toko Coronation Hall on Monday last for the purpose of electing a new board. A fair attendance were present, Mr Geo. Morrison presiding. The chairman, in his report, congratulated the people of Toko on having such a beautiful domain, probably the nicest domain in any country district in Taranaki. He was pleased to sa ythat they had been in a position through the generosity of the Toko Sports Club, and the people of Toko generally, to add permanent improvements to the domain year after year, till now they have a beautiful Domain. It is only a few years since the ground was one mass of logs and stumps, but to-day there is a firstclass football field, and a concrete cricket pitch. About 400 trees and shrubs were planted round the ground, which beautify the place, besides being good shelter. Altogether, a sum of; £2OO was spent on improving the grounds, besides the result from several good working bees, all of which clearly shows that the people of Toko are interested in their domain. The running track of a quarter of a mile is being ploughed up and sowed down again, when it is hoped to have as good a running track as there is in Taranaki.

The following gentlemen were elected as members of the new board:—Messrs Geo. Morrison, J. B. Hine, W. H. Were, D. Bain, G. E. Bocock, J. T. Kilpatrick and G. Cleary. The chairman's report was adopted.

GENERAL

Messrs Roberts and Kilpatrick have installed an tip-to-date crushing plant at the Toko lime- lain. It is driven by steam power. The farmers will now be able to get either crashed or burnt lime, which will be a boon to the district. The -School Committee have carried out some improvements in the horse pacldock by placing shell rock by the saddle shed, which in wet weather used to get in a very bad state. ' Mr T. A. Lees has a fine lot of early lambs on his Cairnhill farm. Mr J). Maxwell left on Thursday on a holiday trip to the King Country.
