WELLINGTON WINTER MEETING. [Per Pbe«« Association.] Wellington, July 15. The Wellington Winter Meeting opened in line hut threatening weather. The attendance was good. The going was holding. Results:— Vittoria Hurdles, of 120sovs., two miles.—Parawanui 1, Ruataugata .2, Cheddar 3. Scratched: Immensity, Merry Valet, Glenorchy, Bracken, Pelican. Parawanui led all the way, but just scored by a head. Time, 4min 3 l-ssec. , Stewards’ Handicap, of 200sovs., seven furlongs.—Kaniki 1, Tatimi 2, Kew 3. Scratched: Bluestone, Moutoa Girl, Royal Sleeves. Won by three lengths. Time, Irnin 35 Ussec. Hack Hunters’ Steeplechase, of 150 sovs., two and a-lialf miles.—Northern 1, Bonny 2, Fritz 3. Scratched: Ingonkender. Bonny led most of the way. Northern came witli a fine late run and won by half a length. Maknri fell. Tiind, smin 54 2-ssec. Trial Plate, of TOOsovs., six furlongs.—Shaki 1, Need 2, Te Opai 3. Scratched: To Hon Hou, Try Fluke, Miss Clements. Won by two lengths, one length between second and third. Time, Irnin 22 2-ssec. Steeplechase, of lOOOsovs., about throe miles and n-quarter.—Captain Jack 1, Jackman 2, Sir Lethe 3. Scratched: Kauroa. Antarctic and Sportsman fell and Rnffy ran off.
