RESCUE OF CASTAWAYS.

MAROONED FOR FIVE MONTHS. [United Press Association.] CBv Electric Telegraph—Copyright 1 New York, July 11. The steamer City of Sydney arrived at San Francisco. She had rescued the captain, eight of tho crow, and two babies (children of the captain), of the wrecked schooner Mokonies. They were marooned for five months on Clepperton Island, off the Mexican coast. The party anticipated being rescued by the gunboat Tampico, but the Constitutionalists captured and sank her. There was a small Mexican colony on the island. Food ran low, and three of the crew started for the mainland, arriving after seventeen days' great suffering owing to shortness of food and water. The cruiser Cleveland rescued the party, and transferred them to the City of Sydney.
