The indignation of the citizens found expression at the funeral of a taxi-chauffeur killed by street subsidence. Four thousand taxis followed the hearse. Great qrowds followed the other funerals. The president of the Syndicate of Seine Navvies accused the contractors on the underground works in 'the Place St. f Phillipe, Deroule, of using rotten cement in the brickwork. The contractors openly deny this. , v ENGULFED BUT RESCUED. Paris, 1 June 21. The Senate passed a Loan Bill. Further subsidences occurred on the Boulevard Hausmann. Four persons were engulfed, but were rescued.
