“BLOWING HIS BELLOWS.”

VILLAGE BLACKSMITH IN COURT [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, June 13. A village blacksmith at Huntstall was prosecuted for the unmelodiousness ,of his voice. The evidence showed that he sang out of tune in church very loudly, and continued singing after the congregation had ceased. The minister stated that defendant’s singing so disturbed the congregation that many left, and others stopped their ears. Defendant declared he was singing tenor in parts of the psalms when he was asked to stop making a noise.

The Bench fined the blacksmith £1 and added that the congregation had a right to pay the fine.
