Calm is returning, and there is a strong reaction against the syndicalist methods. There have been demonstrations in Verona and other towns in favor of .the array. Bands of strikers are roaming the countryside at Ravenna, cutting the telegraphs. A gang of ex-convicts at Retifillo fired on the troops, who replied, killing two. Fourteen were killed and several hundred wounded during the riots.
