ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL CLUB. (By Full Back.) The first match of the season, Kaponga v. Stratford, eventuated yesterday, and resulted in a win for Stratford by 4 goals to nil. This is the first time that Stratford have beaten Kaponga. My prophesy has surely come true that our President (Madame Bernard) brought us good luck by taking the first kick of the season." Shortly after the match, the President handed the secretary of the club a cheque, which will be much appreciated by all. As to the game, Stratford, in the first half, played uphill and against the wind, but managed to score 2 goals. The going was hard, and Kaponga men had a hard job to keep their feet. Stratford's forward line has improved greatly; in fact, the team all-round show great improvement, there being some new blood in the team who show a good knowledge of the game. In the second half of the game, although only two more goals were scored, was all on one side, Kaponga being called upon to defend their goal continually. A return match will he played with them shortly at Kaponga.
