THE MEAT QUESTION.
[To The Editor Stratford Post.] Sir, —We beg to express our indignation at the uncalled - for aspersions thrown upon our trade at the Council meeting on Monday night. Anyone reading that report would infer that only inferior meat was killed by any butcher in Stratford. Now, in point of fact, it will be found that the average meat killed in Stratford is much above the average meat killed in, say, New Plymouth. Mr Copestake will, we are sure,bear us out in this. You, sir, we are also sure will be surprised after hearing the remarks made at the Council table, to learn from us that our age-limit is only 4| years. Anyone can verify this by a reference to the •monthly report, and if beasts in prime condition, and not more than four-and-a-half-years old, can be called “inferior,” we should bo glad to be informed what is “prime.” We are, etc..
