' The conditions and the fact "that they were playing a vastly stronger team, including Wagstaffe, the famous centre three-quart-er, were in, their favor. The game was certainly an improvement on Saturday’s. The final score was: New South Wales 11, England 3. Hall (England’s half) sustained concussion of the brain. Messenger retired hurt.

As it is impossible for the selectors to see the members of the various country teams play, it has been decided to play a North v. SOUTH TARANAKI RESULTS. At Opunake on Saturday, Kaponga seniors defeated the local team by, 12 points to nil. At Manaia, Waimate defeated Okaiawa by 14 pointsto 5. Ruru Sam (Okaiawa), who filled a' vacancy owing to Johns being injured, was ordered off for tripping. Waimate juniors defeated Okaiawa juniors by 6 points (two trips) to 3 (one try). SECOND JUNIOR MATCHES. Owing to the representative football match, no second junior fixtures have been set down for Thursday, ft is possible that Stratford and Stratford D.H.S. will play their match, which should dtfief'Wise eventuate next week. The fixtures set down for June 18, ,nre: Star v. Stratford, at New Plymouth; Clifton v. Stratford D.H.S., at Waitara. THIS WEEK’S REFEREES, Thursday, June 11: Star t.
