PARALYSIS. THE LATE CEDRIC CRAWSHAW. It is with very much regret we have to record the death after a short illness of ;\l r Cedric Ciawshaw, second son of Mr W. J. Ciawshaw. manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Stratford. The late Mr Cedric Crawshaw, who was only in ids twenty-second year, recently sat in Wellington for Ins hind law examination, returning 10 his home at Stratford only a week ago—on Monday, May 2obh. He appeared to be suffering with influenza and was not thought to be at all seriously ili until Friday evening last, when his symptoms became somewhat alarming and medical attendance was called in. Dr. Jmget at once diagnosed the case as infectious spinal paralysis (more commonly though erroneously known as infantile paralysis), and treated the patient accordingly. At that time he found that paralysis of one arm had commenced. Dr. Paget at once communicated with Dr. \ aimtine, head of the Health Department, and instructed that necessary steps for isolation of members of the family and the disinfection of the bank premises bo undertaken. Every attention was given to the young patient and all known remedies were used, but in spite of all the paralysis increased and became complete at an early hour this morning. Mr Crawshaw passing away at 5 a.m. to-day. The deepest sympathy of a very wide circle of friends wdl be extended to Mr and Mrs Crawshaw in their great bereavement. Mr Cedric Crawshaw was a most promising young man, held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. He was for some time in the law office of Messrs Spence and Stanford, and was later associated with Messrs Wake and Anderson in their oihoo in Auckland. Not long ago lie severed his connection with the latter firm to complete his studies with the intention of passing his final law examination and practising on his own account .
