CONCEALMENT OF BIRTH.

AN AUCKLAND CASE. [Peb Press Association.] Auckland, May 29. At the inquest on the body of a newly-born child, a statement made to the police by the mother of the child, Mary Agnes Brown, was put in. She stated that she was single, being 25 years of age, and admitted she gave * birth to the child, which was dead. She put it in a dressbasket.

The coroner .fouricl that death of the child resulted from hemorrhage or exposure, owing to She absence of skilful assistance.

Subsequently, Mary Brown was arrested and charged with concealment of birth. She was remanded on bail, on a surety of £25.
