A third death has occurred as the result of the fire in the boarding house at Courtenay Place bn May 17.
A wharf laborer named J. S. Stevenson, commonly known as “Jack Smith” (23) died at the hospital this morning. He had severe burns on the face and body, but was making good progress till this morning. When admitted he had influenza, which turned to pneumonia. Deceased was a single man with relatives at Waimate.
